The virus threat is the biggest threat to any computer system. A computer software system can be fully damaged because of a deadly virus and the worst thing is your privacy may be in questions if virus attacks your system. There is a saying like “ Prevention is better than cure” . We will suggest you to take few preventive steps to keep your system protected from deadly viruses.
1. Use firewall in your system: Many people say that firewalls make the network slower. But it is not fully true. Now a days with the advancement of technology, firewalls are much more efficient than before. They use fewer resources and affect the network speed in a minimal way. Its work like a gate keeper of your computer and keep the predators at the bay. So your system’s vulnerability can be minimized.
2.Always use Antivirus software : It is highly recommended that you should keep your antivirus software running and the most important point to remember is update the virus definition database up-to-date. Its not that you have to pay for a good antivirus software. There are many free and really good antivirus softwares are there for use. Just choose a good one and install in your system.
3. Update your Operating System: It is very important to keep your OS updated. The OS update packages are released to protect your system by rectifying any major loopholes and vulnerability issue in your system.
4. Don’t install anything without knowing its source: Just thinking that you have got a software is free, don’t install without knowing the source. There may be viruses, Spy wares, Trojans and many more deadly things. So be careful before installing anything in your system.
5. Don’t download any suspicious software or files: Even if you have got a unlimited download limit, don’t download anything that is there in internet, thinking that it is free. It may put you in big problem. Remember it.
6. Avoid Spam mails: Its always better to have a spam filter in your mailbox. Gmail has a nice spam filter in place. If you are using your own otlook like email client, then we will highly recommend to put spam filter in your system. As may viruses come through mail.
7. Take regular back up: It is recommended to take regular back up of the important files in your system. If possible full system back up is recommended. If you have any external hard disk, we will suggest to keep the back up files in such safe place.
8. Keep your OS cd handy: In the worst scenario, when it is not possible to repair your system, your OS cd can be of great help. So keep it handy.
9. Its better to have a browser other than IE. As IE is mostly targeted by the bad guys (hackers) in the internet. So it is better to have a other good browser in your system.
