sound output inactive but active in windows media player

sir i have a machine with 945gl motherboard and core 2 duo cpu with 1.8 ghz processing capacity and i have the sound support software like hd advance audio my problem is that ? i have seen the moving bars on the windows media player screen ,my speaker is ok but i cannot hear the sound from my speaker what is the problem i can't understand plz suggest me what to do?

Do you have a linux system or Windows system?

If you have a windows system then check if driver is properly installed.

How to check?

Right click on the my computer icon
Select Manage
Now a window will open.
Select Device manager.
Are you seeing any yellow question mark near "Sound, video and game controller" ?

If answer is yes you have to install driver first.
