Can I Load Linux Over Windows XP

Hay Friends,
I have a little knowledge about Linux.
In my Laptop i use Windows XP. I want to Install Linux In my Laptop and also want to keep Windows XP.
can any body help me Installing Linux?
I want also want to know what is required to Instal Linux.
If anyone help me about this I will be grateful....

Linux has made easy to install itself over XP without harming the functionality of it. Though we can help in this we will suggest to follow the steps that will come during the installation of Linux. Please let us know if you are facing any issue in installing Linux in your system.
